Through Moon Lake to Central Lahoul
(Hamta pass to Baralachala)

Trek starts from Manali through lush  green forest , alpine meadows ( in summer full of wild flowers ) to the semi desert  regions  of Lahoul over Hampta pass  , In clear day excellent view of Indrakila , Deo Tibba and Indraasan , Entering  in  Chandra valley  surrounded by magnificent high mountainous rage , Reached  to the  legendary lake  of Chandra tal ( Moon lake )  summer house  of legendary Himalayan shepherds .Follow the alpine trail along with  Chandra river opposite  of  Chandra –Bhaga , Moulkila , Tila and Karang  mountain range till Baralachala   Vehicle will be waiting for further drive to  the central Lahoul , explore ancients temples and  monasteries.

Chandra tal
(The moon lake) This legendary lake with its crystal clear water is situated opposite of the C.B. range , its radius is about 2 kms. and is a house of legendary Himalayan shepherds from Chamba and Kangra valley who come over in summer with their flocks to these high altitude pasture.

Day 1 :-Arrival Delhi, reception in air port, transfer to the hotel, O/N in hotel.

Day 2:- Delhi to Manali ( 2000 m) (570 km -16 h) , by night tourist bus.
Full day sight seen in Delhi , evening transfer to bus station, night in comfortable bus.

Hamta pass to Baralachala


Day 3 :- Manali :

Morning reached Manali, check in hotel, Visit old Manali, Hadimba temple, Shiva temple and monastery in town are main attraction, afternoon free in town, Night in hotel.


Day 4 :- Manali to Marsu, Saten (2500 m) 5h                                                                    trek  1

After breakfast drive to Prini village, Path leads through the village, Zig-zag trail leads to the valley floor and offers an extensive view. Now easy path leads to the Khangpa village of Saten who are migrated. from Spiti. (From Tibet in the olden time) (Khangpa community use to move as Nomade in Chang-thang.

Day 5:- Marsu, Saten to Balu Gyra (3300 m) 5h                                             trek 2
The trail begins by flat walking through the forest of Mapple, Silver Fir, Pine and Oak, paved by the grass and stone and fields of the wild flowers. Twice have cross the river. Bank sloping down from the high clifs all around and ideal location for the end of the day.

Day 6 :- Balu Gyra to Shea Gahru (3700 m) over Hamta pass (4200 mt) 5 - 6h                                                                                                                                 trek 3
The trail begins to ascend toward to the mighty Hamta pass, and soon the distant valley of Lahoul/ Spiti comes in to view. From the pass one can enjoy the view of magnificent Himalayan peaks, Deo Tibba, Indra Asan, Indra Kila. Slowly landscape start getting rugged. One hour descend to the meadow of Shea Gahru , beautiful cam site on the foot of the glacier. Trek

Day 7 :- Shea Gahru to Chhatru (3360 m) Short day.                                 trek 4
The trail descends toward the left bank of the " nalla ". Soon the Chandra river is in view.After 3 hours reached at the beautiful campsite. After noon at leisure.

Day 8 :- Chhatru to Chhota Dara (3440 m) 5h                                             trek 5
Easy walk on the dusty and rough road to the opposite of the Chandra river between C.B range and Chhota Shigri Range.

Day 9 :- Chhota Dara to Batal (3640 m) 5h                                                 trek 6

Hamta pass to Baralachala


Easy walk, once again on the same dusty road. Right of the trail oposite of the Chandra river the Bara shigri range offers a magnificant view of the Lalana, Papsura, Dharamsura (White sale), Shangrila and many other proeminent peaks of the range as wel as one of the world longest glacier.

Day 10 :- Batal to Chandra Tal (4200 m) 5 - 6h                                                               trek 7
One of the most beautiful trail of the trek offers you a wonderful view of the Chandra valley as well as the now carpet mountains of the C.B range and Mul Kila. Shepherdss from the Kangra valley are with their flocks in the valley. Visit around the valley, meet The shepherdss, but be careful of the dogs.

Day 11 :- Chandra tal to Topko-Yongmo (4370 m) 6h                             trek 8
Very easy walk but long with the sceneray of the mountanious Chandra -Bhaga (C.B.) range opposite side . Camp nearby the river or just before or after crossing the river, all trekkers are advised to put on the sneakers while crossing the river.

Day 12:- Topko- Yongmo to Topko-Gongmo (4450 m) 3 - 4 h               trek 9
An other river crossing is involved today, if you arrive before noon .Afternoon it is advised not to cross the river, because water level can increase rapidily due to the perpetual heat on the glacier. So one should cross as early as possible even one have to camp early day before wade through the river.

Day 13 :-Topko- Gongmo to base of Baralachala (4550 m) Short        trek 10
just cross the river and camp site is after one hour, near the shepherds. Pitch your tents, hot lunch will be prepared and afternoon free time to stroll around , one can study the wild flowers.

Day 14: Base to Baralacha-la, drive to Jispa over Baralachala (4800 m) 4h                                                                                                                      trek 11
Gradual ascend upward the pass Baralacha-la, wade through a small but chilled yamen stream . After while . You will see the prayer flags flattering on the top of Baralacha-la where drivers are waiting with jeep to pick you up till Manali, breathtaking drive to Jispa , visit village and monastery, camp overnight.

Day 15 :- Jispa to Udai pur (98 km ; via Trilokinath) (2500 m)

Hamta pass to Baralachala

Visit Keylong ,administrative headquarter of tribal distt of Lahoul and Spiti. drive in Chenab valley to visit the temple of Trilokinath ( Shiva ) 11th century old wooden temple of Mrikula Devi in Udaipur , O/N in camp.

Day 16:- Udaipur to Manali, 165 km (1950 mt)
Scenic drive through several villages of Lahoul , Passport required checked at Koksar , Snake curved road to the Rohtang pass (3950 mtrs ) providing Magnificent view of surrounding Himalayas. Long descend of 51 kms , fields of wild flower and cascading waterfall accompany you till Manali .O/N in hotel.

Day 17 :- Explore Manali :
Visit Nagar castle , Roerich art gallery , Hindu Temple's and , Vashisht temple and hot spring O/N in hotel.

Day 18 :- Manali to Delhi : (570 km -16h)
Free Morning , afternoon transfer to bus station , by evening bus to Delhi , night in bus.

Day 19 :- Arrive Delhi , Transfer to hotel, day at leisure, evening transfer to airport, flight to onward destination.
