Rafting In Bhagirathi - gange

Gange : A holiest river drain a large portion of India, hence worshiped as mother Ganga, and rises in the icy caves of Gaumukh in the snout of the Gangotri. Groups of pilgrims and saints (Sadhu) can be seen to paying homage in various temple’s and on the bank of Gange. After Gangotri glacier Tapovan has attracted Trekkers since time memorial only cause of its sheer captivating beauty with Gangotri glacier and high mountains around.

Way back Descend Ganga is full of surprises with its diversities for the rafter, at some places it is calm and tranquil; while at others it is equally turbulent and rapid.

Day 1 : Arrive in Delhi ,

Reception in airport , transfer to hotel .

 

Day 2 : Delhi to Rishikesh  224 km                                                                

Transfer to railway station, train till Haridwar, visit bathing Ghat and transfer to Rishikesh. night in hotel .          

 

Haridwar  is the gateway  of pilgrimage,  from time immemorial. Haridwar is one of the four pilgrim centre where Kumbha is held every twelve years. Most sacred bathing ghat is called Har-Ki-  Pauri, or Brahma Kund ,

 

Day 3 :  Explore Rishikesh : “Sanctuary of saint and Sadhu”                               

Rishikesh, situated on the bank of river Ganga and surrounded on three sides by Himalayan ranges is a great pilgrimage centre of India. Visit Ancients temple ‘s and Ashram. At Trivani Ghat, Evening held “Ganga  Arti ”, most fascinating religious ritual in the world, grand arti (religios song when pilgrims light a butter lamp with fresh flowers and offering to the Goddess).

 

Day 4 : Rishikesh to Uttarkashi (1158 m) 160 km.

Pleasant drive through several village to Uttarkashi, on arrival transfer to hotel for overnight stay, evening visit ancients temples and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. On the way visit Bhotia village.

 

The Bhotias:The Bhotias are businessmen and born mountaineers. The Bhotias of Uttarakhand claim descent from the Rajputs, who came from Kumaon and Garhwal and settled in the higher valleys.The Bhotias are to be found all along the Tibetan border from Nepal in the east to Uttarkashi in the west.

 

Day 5: Uttarkashi - Gangotri (3048 m)

Drive 108Km through up-stream to scintillating river Bhagirathi. Winding shady roads swinging conifer trees and beautiful Himalayan hamlets. On arrival check in to the Tourist bungalow, evening visit Temple of Gangotri (Goddess mother Ganges),.

 

Day 6: Gangotri - Bhujbassa (3792 m) :                                                                     trek 1

Up stream to Bhagirathi river, passes through the Chir Bassa (Pine Jungle), further Bhujbassa (Birch Jungle), this trek is a beautiful feeling of spirituality. The sun kissing Himalayan peaks. all above 6000m, stand over there as a sentinels of valley of Gods, overnight at Tourist Bungalow or Camp .

 

Day 7: Bhujbassa – Gaumukh (4000m) - Tapovan (4465m) : 5 h                        trek 2

Trek 04 km to the sources of Ganges; Gaumukh (cow’s mouth). Pilgrims come      over to take holy water and  holy dip in Bhagirathi river to wash their sins, Further steep trek over Gaumukh glacier to Tapovan for about 4 Kms. camp .

 

Day 8: Tapovan - Chirbassa (3600m - 12 km - 5 h)                                                trek 3

Trek back to Chirbassa, overnight at camp.

 

Day 9: Chirbassa - Gangotri - Uttarkashi : (6 km - 2 h)                                         trek 4

Trek back to Gangotri, followed drive to Uttarkashi, on the way stop at Gangnani for hot spring bath, overnight camp.

 

Day 10: Uttarkashi to Tehri,  Drive  to camp site sandy bank                         Rafting

Early morning drive to Tehri and onwards to the Tehri dam project. After packed Lunch we will undergo a safety briefing and board our rafts for the expedition. A short one hour raft run will bring us to our first night halt in the gorge on a small Beach Overnight in tents.

 

Day 11: Nagar village ,                                                                                           Rafting

Raft to the isolated village of Nagar. After lunch we enter one of the most exciting stretches on the river, where there is seldom a break between the rapids. Camp is set up on a large sandy bank.
 

Day 12: "The Fall" Rafting
After breakfast we resume our journey through more challenging rapids like `the

Fall'. Camp out on an isolated beach on the river. An hour after 'The Fall' rapid, we stop above the Devprayag rapid, an exciting grade IV rapid. The small town of Devprayag sits on the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanada rivers which merge here to form the holy Ganga. After Devprayag the river widens out and is relatively calm. Guests are welcome to 'take over' the raft and experience the thrill of negotiating the rapids. Camp is set on an isolated beach.

 

Day 13: Kaudial  Rafting
A scenic float down till Kaudiyala. This is the toughest section, especially for the      paddlers as the water flows calmly and there are few rapids on this section. 05 hrs.

Rafting. However, the lack of rapids is more than made of by the wilderness of the area. Lunch enroute on the beach. The Ganga flows through a small gorge, where no human being can reach except for the rafter. One can see wild animals, overnight in tents.

     
Day 14:
"The Wall" Rafting

The morning session includes the second most difficult rapid of our journey, a grade IV zig-zag stretch called `The Wall'. River lunch. Our last hour of rafting excitement bring us to the camp at Shivpuri for a celebration dinner around the open fire.

 

Day  15: Shivpuri  to Haridwar – 40  km. Train  to Delhi 6 hours .

Morning at leisure, after early lunch drive to Haridwar, afternoon train to Delhi. night in hotel.

 

Day 16 :-Departure

Full day Visit in Delhi. Evening transfer to international airport for flight to onward destination.
