Lamayuru To Stok (Climbing of Stok Kangri 6121 m)

Trek in Chang-Thang:a high altitude plateau , Home of the Nomade ( called Changpas ) to which can be reach by passing several passes , At Tsokar , the salt water lake .. Further east of Rupshu Chang-Thang a great salt water lake of Tsomoriri . Close by is Karzok the capital of Rupshu . wildlife , Kyang , “ the Tibetan wild ass ”and occasionally visible snow leopard and rare exotic birds as Bar headed Goose . Black necked crane are also found .  

Further a head existed ancient barter link route between Tibet and Spiti , while Tibet was free was having exchange relation of culture and goods between Spiti and Tibet ,trail goes over highest pass of the trek 5560 mtrs the gate way between Spiti and Tchang-Thang bordered with Tibet . Explore Spiti “also knows as Little Tibet..” its monasteries some of them found as similar to Tholing in Tibet , attend the ritual ( Puja ) and listen the chant of monk while praying ,meet cheerful peoples and enjoy the golden landscape , Drive to Manali through Chandra valley , spectacular road adorned by snow caped mountain leads to lush green valley of God , Kullu – Manali ; explore the valley and its ancients temples ,By night comfortable bus to Delhi .

Mentok Kangri ( 6175 mtrs .) From Korzok village easy approach to the base camp., As approaching higher one can have breathtaking view . During the summer there are fields of wild flower , there fore the Mentok name comes from the wild flowers in Ladakhi (Tibetan) language , Minimum of equipment and basic experience of mountaineering is required

Day 1 : -Arrival Delhi
, reception in airport, transfer to the hotel, O/N in the hotel. (depend on arrival time of international flight)

Day 2 :- Delhi to Leh (3500 m)
Transfer to the domestic airport, flight to Leh, transfer to the hotel, free afternoon, O/N in the hotel.

Day 3: -Visit Shey, Thiksey, Hemis monasteries,
full day sight-seeing (famous monasteries in the Ladakh). Back to hotel, O/N in the hotel.

Day 4:- Drive to Lamayuru (3600 m), via ALchi . About 150 km
Visit Oldest ALCHI MONASTERY and Lamayuru, O/N in Lamayuru

Day 6:- Lamayuru to Wanla over Prinkitila (3800 m) 5h                                    trek 1
From Lamayuru monastery descend towards the village, cross the stream, ascend gradually upward the Printikla (3800 m) descend into the gorge, arrive at Shilla, crossing the bridge and reached at Wanla.

Day 7:- Wanla to Hinju  4h                                                                                        trek 2
Now follow the Yapola river on the left and after 2 hours arrive at Penjila. Continue up to the valley, leading off at right angles, after one hour trekking leave the valley on the left, and after one hour arrives at Hinju.

Day 8:- Hinju to Sumda over Konzke la (4950 m) 7h                                           trek 3
The trail goes through the Hinju village, crossing the Hinju valley, leave one more valley on the left and ascent to the pass. Last ascent is steep. Again from the summit of the Konzke-la, long descent to the pastures, follow the trail on the left bank along the mountain side. Here path gets lost, rather close to the river. There are circular walls. Before Sumda there is a glocked cave, so many nice campsites at the edge of the river, but continue along the left bank along the mountainside till Sumda.

Day 9:- Sumda to Base of Dundunchenla  (4200 m) 3h                                      trek 4
This is short day to reduce a long exhausted trek between Sumda to Chilling. A short Steep trail for 1.30 hours. and than gradual walk till the campsite at base of pass.

 

Day 10:- Base to Chilling over Dundunchenla (4700 m) 6h                                trek 5
2 hours trek till the pass, After descending the pass south side, slope is steep and continue towards a valley which gets narrower and narrower, in the end it opens out at Chilling. Up to Chilling there is not much of water. Chilling is a village of craftsmen, here Peoples work with metals like copper, tin, silver and make ladles Tchang pots, tea pots etc.

Day 11:- Chiling to Shingo, 5 to 6h                                                                          trek 6
From Chiling follow the Zanskar river upstream for about ½ km., then cross it in a cable car (by paying fee) then there is a well defined path, Sakaya is 2 hours from the river crossing .After some distance from Skaya, the trail joins with the Markha valley trek. From here, Shingo with 2-3 houses is 3 hours away. Camp here for the night.

Day 12:- Shingo to Ganda la (4700 m) 4h                                                             trek 7
Ascent to Ganda la, it is two hours, easy climb descent into a beautiful valley and after passing Yurutse village (with beautiful houses), cross the river on right bank, cross an escarpment which leads into the valley of Rumbak Gompa. From Rumbak gompa, there is a route joining Spituk via Zinchen.-no pass in between, all easy going.

Day 13:- Rumbak gompa to Stok base (4300 m) over Stok La (4900 m) 7h  trek 8
After passing this beautiful stopping valley, Three hours steep climbing to the top of the pass. Descend to the base camp and further trek toward the base of Stok Kangri.

Day 14 - 16:- Climbing Stok Kangri. (6121 m)
This is one of the easiest peak declared as trekking peak inLAdakh region, One can climb from Lower base directly or well shift the camp to higher base camp. It takes almost 10 hours from base camp to base camp, minimum climbing equipment is required.

Day 17 :- Descend to Stok for 5 - 6h,                                                                      trek 9
visit Stok palace, evening drive to Leh, night in hotel.

Day 18 :- Free day in Leh, O/N in hotel.

Day 19 :-Leh—Delhi, flight,
Transfer to domestic airport. Flight to Delhi, transfer to the hotel. Afternoon free time in Delhi .O/N in hotel.

Day 20:- Transfer to Agra.
Four hours drive to Agra, visit the Taj Mahal, sumptuous white marble tomb , one of the most beautiful piece of Mogul art. It has been built by Shah Jahan Emperor in 17th century for his wife Red fort, O/N in hotel.

Day 21:- Departure :
Visit Fathepur Sikri a former capital of the Mogul Emperor Akbar in the 15th century and drive directly back to Delhi to International air port, flight to onward destination, end of service.
